About
Luxembourgish harpist Dina Nimax is a passionate professional performer and teacher. She regularly performs variated concerts from solo/chamber recitals to children's workshops to weddings. Since September 2022 she teaches at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
Dina started playing the harp at the age of five and took her first harp lessons at the Conservatory of Luxembourg with Liane Coljon-Hames who accompanied her until her ‘diplôme supérieur’ with distinction. She continued her education in London at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Charlotte Seale, where she graduated in 2020 with First Class Honours in Harp Performance, Bachelor of Music. In addition, she did a pedagogic degree and received a teaching diploma (LRAM) the same year. Her journey then led her to Professor Sarah O’Brien, the former harpist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Munich Philharmonic, at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Two years later, she obtained a degree in Harp Performance, Master of Arts with distinction.
During the last years she gained a lot of experience as an orchestral harpist. 2019 she was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra where she played, among others, in the Elbphilharmonie under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach and Michael Sanderling. Furthermore, she already played with professional orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam conducted by Daniele Gatti in a Side by Side project, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg, the Chamber Orchestra of Luxembourg and the Military Music Band of Luxembourg. During her studies, she had the privilege to play under the baton of famous conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, John Wilson, Jac van Steen, Tim Weiss and Johannes Schlaefli. In 2018, she won an internship with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg.
In addition to orchestral playing, she is fond of playing with choirs. She regularly works with her father Pierre Nimax jun. and his two choirs. (Chamber choir and renowed boys choir “Pueri cantores”)
As a soloist she already performed F. Boieldieu’s C minor Harp Concerto with Estro Armonico, the Konzertstück by G. Pierné with the Professors Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Luxembourg and R. Glière’s Harp Concerto with the Military Music Band. In 2017, she had the great honour to be featured by the Abbaye de Neimünster in their cycle of “springboard” concerts and gave a recital in their concert hall.
Since 2019, Dina is represented by the artistic agency Mözarts and can be booked for all sorts of events. She also works regularly with the pedagogic department of the Philharmonie du Luxembourg and Fondation EME.
In the past Dina took masterclasses with highly known and prestigious harpists such as Emanuel Ceysson, Fabrice Pierre, Isabelle Perrin, Catrin Finch, Isabelle Moretti, Sylvain Blassel, Katerina Englichova, Anne-Sophie Bertrand, Imogen Barford and Milda Agazarian.
